Hinchinbrook Island

Australia's largest island national park, Hinchinbrook Island is located just 8km from the mainland - in fact, it's so close you can practically see it from Mahi Mahi Hinchinbrook. This Jurassic Park like island is famous for being untouched and wild, with world heritage rainforests, mangrove forests, isolated beaches, and it is also home to some of the best fishing in the world.

The Thorsborne Trail brings visitors to Hinchinbrook Island from across the world; however, with limited places available on this multi-day hike, we recommend booking your place early to avoid disappointment. If you're not signed on for the Thorsborne Trail, don't worry, as you can still visit this pristine island paradise.

Thanks to Mahi Mahi Hinchinbrook's private pontoon, those bringing their own boat can get out to the island directly from Mahi Mahi. For those who don't have your own boat, many local operators depart from nearby making it the perfect day trip from Mahi Mahi Hinchinbrook. Find out more about visiting Hinchinbrook Island here.

Please note that crocodiles do inhabit the waters around Hinchinbrook Island, and can turn up anywhere so always be croc wise.
